Janoshik is an independent analytical laboratory that tests samples sent in by its customers, including research peptides, and issues a test report for each sample. A standard peptide report states the compound identified, the measured amount per vial in milligrams, and HPLC purity. Every report carries a task number and a unique key, and entering both on Janoshik's verification page returns the lab's own copy, which is how a reader confirms that a report is genuine and unaltered.

What Janoshik is
Janoshik Analytical describes itself as an independent testing laboratory. It accepts samples from customers worldwide, analyzes them, and delivers a digital report by email and through a customer account. Its catalog covers peptides and a range of other compounds, and it offers additional tests on request.
Three features of how it works matter when you read one of its reports:
- The customer chooses the sample. A report describes whatever physical sample the customer sent. The lab's own FAQ is explicit that it cannot issue a report without receiving a sample.
- The customer supplies the labels. The name of the sample, the client name, the stated manufacturer and the batch are details the customer provides with the order.
- Reports can be made public. Janoshik publishes a searchable list of public reports, with the note that it does not endorse, sponsor or have any affiliation with the companies, organizations or products listed.
That last point is worth taking at face value. A Janoshik report is a record of one analysis. It is not a certification of a supplier, a product line or a brand.
What a standard peptide test measures
Janoshik's catalog page for a single-peptide analysis, for example its BPC-157 test, describes the standard test as "ID, amount and purity analysis", by HPLC. For a lyophilized sample the stated format is milligrams per vial and peptide purity, with an alternative format that expresses purity on a mass-per-mass basis. The minimum sample for a lyophilized product is one whole unopened vial.

The practical consequence is simple. A report shows only what was ordered. If the findings table lists an amount and a purity, then endotoxin, sterility, counter-ion content and cross-contamination were not measured on that sample, and the report says nothing about them. Absence of a line is absence of a test.
Anatomy of a report
A Janoshik test report is a single page with a fixed layout. The fields below appear on published reports, top to bottom.

Read the report in two layers. The dates, the findings table and the verification details are the laboratory's own. The client, sample name, manufacturer and batch are descriptions the customer gave the lab. The lab measured the vial it received. It did not, and could not, establish from the analysis alone that the vial came from the manufacturer or batch written above the numbers.
How to verify a Janoshik report
Anyone can make a PDF that looks like a laboratory report. Verification is what separates the lab's record from a copy that has been edited or invented.
- Find the task number. It is near the top of the report, next to the heading "Task Number", shown with a # sign.
- Find the unique key. It is printed at the foot of the report, under a line directing readers to verify the test with the key.
- Open the verification page yourself. Type janoshik.com into the browser and use the Verify link in the site menu, rather than following a link supplied with the report. The page asks for two things: the task number and the unique key.
- Enter both codes. A genuine pair returns the report as the lab holds it.
- Compare field by field. Check the task number, every date, the sample name, the batch, the tests requested and each figure in the findings table against the copy you were given. A single changed digit is a failed verification.
- Check the QR code's destination if you use it. A QR code on a report should resolve to a page on janoshik.com. If it points anywhere else, rely on the manual check instead.
If the codes return nothing, or the lab's copy differs from yours, the copy you hold is not the report the lab issued.

Three questions connect a verified report to the material in front of you.
Is it the same lot? Match the batch or lot designation on the report with the lot number on your vial. A report on a different lot of the same compound describes different material. A certificate describes the lot that was tested and is not a claim about any other lot of the same compound.
Is it recent enough? Peptides degrade slowly even as dry powder, faster if stored warm or exposed to moisture. A report dated long before your vial was made, or on a vial kept in unknown conditions, is weaker evidence than one on fresh material.
Was the right test ordered? For identity and quantity, the standard test is informative. If your work depends on low endotoxin, absence of a second peptide, or counter-ion content, look for those specific lines.
Reading the numbers
Amount per vial. This is the measured mass of the compound in the vial, in milligrams. Compare it with the stated net content on the label. Weighing and filling small masses carries tolerance, so small deviations in either direction are normal. A large shortfall is not.
Purity. Janoshik's standard format is HPLC purity: the share of the detected related material that is the target compound. As explained in how HPLC measures peptide purity, purity is not the same as net peptide content, and a high purity figure says nothing about water or counter-ion in the powder.
Identity. The standard test confirms the named compound is present. Identity on a supplier's certificate is usually shown as a mass spectrum with an observed molecular weight, covered in how to read a peptide certificate of analysis.
Independent reports and supplier certificates
An independent report and a supplier's certificate of analysis answer different questions, and neither replaces the other.
A supplier's certificate is issued for a lot, usually covers purity and identity with the underlying chromatogram and spectrum, and sometimes net peptide content, water, counter-ion or endotoxin. An independent report is commissioned by whoever sends the sample, covers that one sample, and reports only the tests that customer paid for.
When evaluating any laboratory, including an independent one, it is reasonable to ask what method was used and whether the lab is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025, the international standard that sets requirements for the competence, impartiality and consistent operation of testing and calibration laboratories.
